Endosulfan has been blacklisted

      Guangzhou China April 30, 2011 - On 29 April 2011, the Fifth of Convention of Stockholm, in an atmosphere of harmony draws to an end. 127 countries, including China, agree that endosulfan is listed as banned substance.

    

       

    

      The chairman pounds the gavel and announces that endosulfan application has come to the end. As one of pops, endosulfan becomes banned substance after PCB, lindane and other chemicals. Endosulfan is a high toxicity pesticide and mainly applied in cotton, tobacco, tea and coffee. It is shown that endosulfan acts on the nervous system. Endosulfan has been banned in more than 60 countries and regions.

    

       

    

      At present, about 50% endosulfan is produced by India. China, Brazil, Israel and Korea also produce endosulfan. In 2005, a nationwide sampling investigation showed that residues of endosulfan in soil were serious, especial in Jiangsu and Fujian. And all the people are happy to see that endosulfan is listed as banned substance. Most of countries face the challenge from endosulfan substitutes, polluted land recovery and how to deal with the inventory.
